DES MOINES, Iowa - An Anamosa woman wasn't sure if she had really won a top prize of $30,000 on her "Crossword" scratch ticket, so she called her daughter for help.
Linda Houska, 69, said she initially thought she had found nine words on her ticket, but then realized she may have had ten.
"I never have won that kind of money," Houska said.
Houska said she didn't have to spread the news herself; her daughter helped out with that.
"I was driving the car to go to town to have it checked and my daughter was on the phone with everyone," she said.
Houska purchased her winning ticket at Family Foods, 402 E. Main St. in Anamosa. She claimed her prize Tuesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
She said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills as well as purchase a newer car.Return to top↑
