Kayla Brewer Wins Top Prize Playing the "Boggle™" Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Clinton woman was surrounded by her family when she discovered she'd won a top prize of $10,000 playing the lottery's "Boggle™" instant-scratch game.
Kayla Brewer, 24, said she was out of town attending a pool tournament with her family when she purchased and played the ticket. Brewer said she thought she'd read the instructions wrong.
"I had to make somebody else read the instructions to make sure all I had to do was match the numbers," she said as she claimed her prize Oct. 29 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
Brewer said she chose the Boggle™ ticket when she stopped into Casey's, 1104 N. Riverview Drive in Bellevue because she likes to play tickets that don't take too much time.
"Honestly, because I don't like to work for it," she joked.
Brewer said she's going to take some time to think about how to use her winnings.
"I don't even know yet. I haven't had time to even think about it," she said. "It's too close to Christmas to buy anything for myself!"
Brewer, who is a registered nurse, said she mangaed to get some sleep over the weekend before she claimed her prize.
"I like to lose things, so I had to make sure the ticket was still around me," she said.
