Marianne Dixon Wins Top Prize of $25,000 Playing the "North Pole Bingo" Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Sabula woman's top-prize win of $25,000 didn't reveal itself until she scratched the "Bonus" section of her "North Pole Bingo" instant-scratch ticket.
Marianne Dixon, 55, said she usually buys one $5 scratch ticket to play, but decided to purchase a $2 North Pole Bingo ticket and a $3 "Merry Crossword" ticket at Hop-N-Shop, 416 Broad St. in Sabula.
"I was like, 'Oh, I won twenty-five. There's no way I got that I-30,'" Dixon said. "And I scratched it and I cried!"
Dixon called her husband, Paul, to tell him the big news.
"I made him come home [from work]," Dixon said.
Dixon also has an 11-year-old son, who was in school at the time.
"I went down to the school in my pajamas and told him!" Dixon said with a laugh. "He had tears in his eyes."
Dixon said this win came at the right time and will help her financial status.
"We're going to pay some bills," she said.
Dixon said she and Paul also plan to purchase a newer vehicle. She claimed her prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.Return to top↑
