Cedar Falls Woman Receives $30,000 Gift

Delynn Hanneman Wins Top Prize Playing the "Jingle Bell Jackpot" Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cedar Falls woman was shocked when one of the instant-scratch tickets attached to a gift from her husband won a top prize of $30,000.

Delynn Hanneman, 42, said her husband has a tradition of attaching a scratch game to each one of her gifts during the holidays; it happened to be a "Jingle Bell Jackpot" ticket that won the big prize.

"I just kept scratching and I'm like, 'This can't be right. There's something wrong with this,'" Hanneman said. "I was beginning to think he put a fake ticket on there."

Hanneman showed her husband, Clay, the ticket so he could check it over.

"So then I'm like, 'I just won $30,000!' And he's like, 'No you didn't!'" Hanneman said.

Clay purchased the winning ticket at Kwik Star, 2016 College Ave. in Cedar Falls. Hanneman has told a few family members and they're all excited for her.

"They said that's good for us," she said.

Hanneman, who works for an insurance company in Cedar Falls, said she is planning to use some of her winnings to pay bills and maybe take a vacation. She claimed her prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
