DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's winning streak in the Powerball game continues: Someone who bought a ticket at a convenience store in northwest Iowa won a $1 million prize in Saturday night's drawing.

The latest big-winning ticket, sold at Casey's, 504 Second Ave. in Sheldon, came close to winning it all in Saturday's $88 million jackpot drawing, matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball. Saturday's winning numbers were: 11-12-17-39-40 and Powerball 5.

The Sheldon ticket was one of five across the country that each won a $1 million prize that night. No one won the jackpot in Saturday's drawing, so Powerball's top prize climbs to an estimated $108 million for Wednesday.

Prizes of $1 million must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines. The lottery's offices are closed on weekends, so the earliest the winner or winners will be able to claim the prize is Monday. If the winner or winners need information before coming forward to claim the prize, they are invited to call the lottery at 515-725-7900.

Players in $2 Powerball choose their first five numbers from a pool of 59, and another number - called the Powerball -- from a separate pool of 35. The Power Play® option is available for an extra $1 per play.

Since getting its start in April 1992 in 15 states with jackpots that started at a guaranteed $2 million, Powerball has grown into one of the world's biggest and most recognizable lottery games. Today Powerball is played by 45 lotteries across the country with drawings at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Winning numbers may be checked on the lottery website at or through the winning numbers hot line at (515) 323-4633. Winning numbers may also be checked with lottery retail outlets or by calling the lottery at (515) 725-7900 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
