DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cedar Falls woman won the first of nine prizes of $10,000 playing the lottery's "10X Cash" instant-scratch game.

Lisa Rowen, 45, said she purchased a few scratch tickets to entertain her while she was home after her daughter's outpatient surgery. She never expected to win this big, though.

"I'm like, 'Wait a minute, did I read something wrong? There's no way I just won ten thousand!'" Rowen said.

Rowen called her son over to check the ticket.

"He's like, 'Oh my gosh, Mom, you just won $10,000!'" Rowen said.

Rowen said this win comes at a great time, as she is currently working at Just Jenny Cleaning in Cedar Falls while she finishes nursing school.

"This will be great for helping with school and I've got prom coming up for my oldest daughter," she said.

Rowen claimed her prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. She purchased her winning ticket at Kwik Star, 324 Fletcher Ave. in Waterloo.

Rowen said she plans to use some of her winnings for her three children.
