DES MOINES, Iowa - A Keokuk woman won the sixth of 13 top prizes of $30,000 playing the lottery's "Super Cashout" instant-scratch game.

Vicki Engel, 65, said she's had the ticket for a while but had to wait for a break between snowstorms to come in and claim her prize.

"I was gonna come up and then we got that snow, so I put that off," Engel said. "And then I was waiting for the weather. And then today they said, 'Oh, another snowstorm.' I thought, 'Well, it's not supposed to hit till later,' so I decided to come up and cash it in."

Engel was pretty surprised to have won such a big prize.

"I couldn't believe it, you know," Engel said. "I'm like, 'No. This can't be right.' I read it again and I'm like, 'Wow!'"

Engel claimed her prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Engel, who is retired, said she shared the news with one of her good friends and has plans to treat her to a night of fun.

"I might take my friend out for her birthday and maybe go up to the Riverside Casino and give her a little money to gamble with cause she's been a very good friend," Engel said.

She said she also plans to pay off some debt, including her truck.

Engel purchased her winning ticket at Murphy USA, 3450 Main St. in Keokuk.
