## Ticket That Keokuk Man Had Left On His Sun Visor For A Few Weeks Yields \$10,000 Prize

Joseph Samuels Claims \$10,000 Prize From Feb. 16 Powerball® Drawing

Hear Joseph tell his story.

DES MOINES, Iowa - After driving around with lottery tickets clipped to the sun visor in his car for about a month, a Keokuk man checked the tickets and discovered he'd won a \$10,000 Powerball prize.

"I had the ticket and just happened to check the ones that were over the visor and it was in there," Joseph Samuels said Friday as he claimed his prize at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Samuels, a retired waterworks superintendent, said that when a store clerk checked his tickets for him, they both heard the lottery terminal's recorded message saying "Woo-hoo! You're a winner."

"I said, what did I win, \$6, \$8 or maybe even \$10, huh?" Samuels recalled. "And she kept staring at that ticket and she said, 'No, I think you won \$10,000!' I said, 'Oh you've got to be kidding me!' But it was."

The winning numbers in the \$60 million Powerball jackpot drawing on Feb. 16 were 15-16-46-50-58 Powerball 29. No one won the jackpot that night and it has continued to grow since then, hitting an estimated \$260 million for Wednesday's drawing.

Samuels bought his winning ticket at Beck's, 3345 N. Main St. in Keokuk. He won a \$10,000 prize by purchasing an easy-pick play, which matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball. Had he added the Power Play® to his ticket, he would have multiplied his prize to \$40,000.

Players can increase their prizes with the Power Play (except the jackpot). The cost is \$1 per play. Players who chose the Power Play and match four white balls and the Powerball win a \$40,000 prize.

Samuels said that he and his wife, Sherri, were each going to go on a small shopping spree with some of the winnings.

"We're each going to take \$200 on the way home and go to Coralville Mall and buy something," he said. "Other than that, the rest of it is going in the bank right now."

Winning numbers may be checked at the lottery website at www.ialottery.com or through the winning numbers' hot line at (515) 323-4633. Winning numbers may also be checked with lottery retail outlets or by calling the lottery at (515) 725-7900 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Players may visit the Iowa Lottery at 2323 Grand Ave. in Des Moines or go to one of the lottery's regional offices in Council Bluffs, Storm Lake, Mason City or Cedar Rapids to claim prizes.
