Michael Fry Of Aurelia Claims Prize On Behalf Of The 'Warrior Club'
DES MOINES, Iowa - A northwest Iowa group that buys tickets together was just one number away from having a share of Saturday's record Powerball jackpot and ended up winning a $10,000 prize.
Michael Fry of Aurelia claimed the $10,000 prize Monday on behalf of the "Warrior Club." He said there are 26 people in his group, many of whom are teachers for the Alta-Aurelia Community Schools. Fry is a high school wrestling coach for the Alta-Aurelia Warriors.
Fry claimed the prize at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines. The group's winning ticket had been purchased at Casey's, 100 Pearl St. in Aurelia.
The group came close to having a share of Saturday's $590.5 million Powerball jackpot, matching four of the first five numbers and the Powerball.
Saturday's winning Powerball numbers were: 10-13-14-22-52 and Powerball 11. A ticket sold in Florida won that night's monster jackpot, so the big prize returns to $40 million for Wednesday's drawing.Return to top↑
