Amber Torres Wins Top Prize Playing the "Crossword" Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Council Bluffs woman said the first thing she plans to do with her $30,000 lottery win is make one of her dreams come true for her and her children.
"I think the first thing I want to do is go buy a house for the kids," Amber Torres shared. "Just a little one that I know is mine."
Torres claimed the 54th of 97 top prizes of $30,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's "Crossword" instant-scratch game.
Torres, 23, said she couldn't believe it when she won.
"I kept on checking it and checking it and checking it," she said. "It was a winner."
Torres claimed her prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs. She purchased her winning ticket at Billy's 66, 2659 W. Broadway in Council Bluffs.
Torres, a stay-at-home mom, shared the news with her boyfriend, Richie Bequette, and her four children who range in age from 8 months to 6 years.
"The three older ones know that I have a bunch of money," she laughed. "And they're going shopping."
