Garrett Manwarren, of Emmetsburg, Wins Top Prize Playing 'Let It Snow Crossword' Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - A northern Iowa man said he was in disbelief after playing an Iowa Lottery "Let It Snow Crossword" instant-scratch ticket.
"Just started scratching them off and I couldn't believe that I had 10 words," said Garrett Manwarren of Emmetsburg.
Manwarren, 35, claimed the second of 33 top prizes of $30,000 available in the Let It Snow Crossword game.
Manwarren, a farmer, said he had a store clerk double-check his winning ticket before claiming his prize Tuesday at the lottery's regional office in Mason City. He purchased his winning ticket the same day at Hometown Convenience, 1303 Main St. in Emmetsburg.
Manwarren said he plans to use his lottery winnings to pay off some bills and buy holiday presents for his family.
