DES MOINES, Iowa - A mistake by a convenience store clerk paid off for a Newton woman.

Angela Lacy, 37, said she received a "Let It Snow Crossword" scratch ticket instead of the one she requested. But instead of returning the ticket, Lacy decided to keep it and ended up winning a $30,000 top prize.

"It hasn't sunk in at all," Lacy said as she claimed her prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. Her husband, Josiah, joined her.

Lacy said she checked her winning ticket numerous times and had her husband look it over. She also took it back to the convenience store where she bought it - Casey's, 3104 First Ave. E. in Newton - to have it double checked.

Lacy, who works at Love's Truck Stop in Newton, said she and her husband plan to use the lottery winnings to pay off bills.
