DES MOINES, Iowa - A holiday tradition finally paid off for a northwest Iowa woman.

Sarah Jo Reynolds of Rockwell City said her husband's family typically exchanges Iowa Lottery instant-scratch tickets as stocking stuffer gifts at Christmas. This year, Reynolds scratched off her "Happy Holidays" ticket and won a $10,000 top prize.

"This will be like my fourth year with stocking stuffers and I finally won, won the big bucks," Reynolds said as she claimed her prize Thursday at the lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. She claimed the fourth of 10 top prizes of $10,000 available in the "Happy Holidays" game. The winning ticket was purchased at Hy-Vee, 4605 Fleur Drive in Des Moines.

Reynolds said she knew right away that she had won a top prize, but she kept it to herself.

"I was pretty quiet about it at first and then I handed it to my husband and he said, 'Sarah you won!'" she said.

Reynolds said her lottery winnings will be used to pay off student loans.
