40 Prizes Totaling $250,000 Up For Grabs In Lottery's 'Summercash' Drawings

Lottery Players Can Use Nonwinning Tix To Enter Promo Through
Sept. 16

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Lottery is jumping into summer by giving players the chance to enter a new promotion offering 40 prizes totaling $250,000. Players can enter the "Summercash" promotion through mid-September with nonwinning tickets from six different instant-scratch games.

"Over time, we've heard from players who said they wanted the chance to enter even more prize drawings," Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich said Monday. "Well, you asked and we heard you - we're kicking things off with Summercash and have even more prize drawings in the works as we move toward the 20th anniversary of our VIP Club."

The Summercash promotion began Monday and features 40 prizes from $1,000 up to $20,000. Members of the lottery's free VIP Club can enter the promotion through noon on Sept. 16. Each prize level has a corresponding scratch game for entry. For example, nonwinning tickets in the $1 "Red, White & Moo" game can be used as entries at the $1,000 prize level, while nonwinning tickets in the $20 "Blazing Hot 7s" game can be used to enter at the $20,000 prize level.

Here is a breakdown of the prizes available in the promotion and tickets required for entry:

Number of Winners Prize Amount Entry Ticket Price Game Name
6 $20,000 $20 Blazing Hot 7s
6 $10,000 $10 Double Dollar Fortune
6 $5,000 $5 20X the Money
6 $3,000 $3 Jumble®
6 $2,000 $2 Hot Card
10 $1,000 $1 Red, White & Moo!

A player could win a prize in each category, meaning that one person could win up to $41,000 in the promotion.

Summercash prize winners will be selected by the lottery in drawings on Sept. 18. The complete winners list will be posted on the lottery's website at www.ialottery.com and the lottery also will notify winners individually at the contact information provided in their VIP Club accounts.

The Iowa Lottery has had a players club since January 1994 and the program has been updated several times to keep things fresh. The latest revamp came this spring, with the club's current focus on tickets as entries in prize drawings.
