Nicola Wins Big Prize in "Set for Life" Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa – An Urbandale man won $10,000 playing the Iowa
Lottery's "Set for Life" instant-scratch game.
Mark Nicola claimed his prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's
headquarters in Des Moines. He bought his winning ticket at Git-N-Go,
1325 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines.
Set for Life is a $20 scratch game with eight top prizes of $1
million. Players who win the top prize have the option of
receiving it as an annuity or lump-sum payment. If the winner
chooses to take the annuity, he/she will be paid $40,000 per
year for a period of 25 years. If the winner chooses to receive
the lump-sum payment, he/she will receive $650,000 before taxes.
Four top prizes of $1 million are still up for grabs in the
game, along with four prizes of $10,000, as well as more than 25
prizes of $1,000, more than 55 prizes of $500 and 295 prizes of
$100.
Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won
more than $2.4 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised
more than $1.2 billion for state programs. |
