$10,000 Winning Ticket Sold in Louisa County

Illinois Woman Claims Top Prize in 'Money Multiplier' Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa - An Illinois woman, who grew up in southeastern Iowa, won $10,000 on an instant-scratch ticket she purchased while visiting her parents in Louisa County.

Jessika Lindgren, 26, of Lynn Center, Ill., claimed the sixth of 13 top prizes of $10,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's "Money Multiplier" scratch game.

Lindgren said she purchased her winning ticket Jan. 20 at Petro & More, Hwy. 61 and 92 in Grandview. Lindgren said she and her husband, Nathan, regularly stop for gas and scratch tickets at this convenience store before heading back home.

Lindgren, a stay-at-home mother of two, said she scratched off a majority of her Money Multiplier ticket and assumed it wasn't a winning one.

"It was the last section I scratched off," she said. "I'm like, 'Oh, it's just another loser.' And then I scratched it off and I'm like, 'Oh wait!'"

Lindgren said she had Nathan double-check her winning ticket before she shared her good news with her father, who also buys scratch tickets at Petro & More.

"I told my dad, 'This is only the beginning of something,'" she said. "I have to get a bigger (prize) the next time I go."

Lindgren claimed her prize Thursday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. She said her lottery winnings will be used to help pay her mortgage.

Money Multiplier is a $2 scratch game. Players try to match any of "your numbers" to the "winning numbers" to win the prize shown for that number. If a player finds a "2X", "4X" or a "5X" symbol, they win any prize won in that row multiplied by any multiplier bonus symbol they revealed. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.56.

Seven top prizes of $10,000 are still up for grabs in Money Multiplier, along with 102 prizes of $200 and 179 prizes of $100.
