DES MOINES, Iowa - A Davenport man said he scratched off his "Crossword" ticket and couldn't believe that he had won a big prize.

Curtis Coss, 24, said he was at his Dad's house when he discovered that he had won the 15th of 86 top prizes of $30,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's newest Crossword game.

"I couldn't believe it," Coss said. "My grandparents couldn't believe it. My Dad couldn't believe it. They said, 'It's 30,000 bucks!'"

Coss claimed his prize Monday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. He purchased his winning ticket at Hawkeye Convenience Store, 6807 Northwest Blvd. in Davenport.

Coss, who works as a forklift driver, said his lottery winnings will be used to purchase a vehicle. Coss currently doesn't own a vehicle. He lives within a couple blocks of his workplace and walks, he said.

Crossword is a $3 scratch game. Players win a prize by uncovering at least three complete words in the ticket's puzzle. If a player uncovers 10 words, he/she wins $30,000. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.82.

Seventy top prizes of $30,000 are still up for grabs in Crossword (game #805), as well as 108 prizes of $3,000 and thousands of prizes of $300 and $100.
