DES MOINES, Iowa - A Waterloo man said he stopped at a local convenience store to buy a Powerball® ticket, and a new instant-scratch game caught his eye.

Stanley Kral, 60, claimed the second of 14 top prizes of $10,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's new "Betty Boop™ LIMITED" scratch game. He said the game brought back some childhood memories, so he decided to buy one April 12 at Prime Mart, 3535 Marigold Drive in Waterloo.

"I used to date a girl that I called Betty Boop and it kind of looks like her," Kral told lottery employees as he claimed his prize Monday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Kral, an occasional scratch ticket player, said he scratched off his ticket and asked his neighbor to verify that he had won $10,000.

"He says, 'Well, it looks good to me,'" Kral said.

Kral said she showed his winning ticket to his wife, Carolyn, but waited to share his good news with others until he received his prize.

"I wanted to make sure it was real," he said.

Kral, who works as a forklift driver at John Deere in Waterloo, said he might purchase a boat with his winnings.

Betty Boop™ LIMITED is a $2 scratch game. Players win a prize by matching "Your Numbers" to either "Winning Number." If a player reveals the "BB" symbol, he or she wins double the prize shown for that symbol. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.72.

Twelve top prizes of $10,000 are still up for grabs in Betty Boop™ LIMITED, as well as 289 prizes of $200 and 374 prizes of $100.
