DES MOINES, Iowa - A Waterloo woman said she had a feeling to buy an instant-scratch ticket and ended up winning a big prize.

Janette Rompot was at Road Ranger, 2349 Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids on Monday and decided to purchase a "10X Cash" scratch ticket. She ended up winning the sixth of nine prizes of $10,000 available in the game.

"I really don't usually play the lottery," Rompot told lottery employees as she claimed her prize Wednesday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. "It was just kind of a spur-of-the-moment, 'Oh let me try.' And it worked. I've never won that much money in my life."

Rompot, who works at Principal Financial Group in Cedar Falls, said she scratched her ticket at home and couldn't believe what she saw.

"I scratched it and was like, 'Oh my gosh look at this! Is this real?' And boy it's real," she said.

The 31-year-old mother of three said her lottery winnings will be used to pay bills.

"10X Cash" is a $10 scratch game. Players scratch the three different games and bonus areas in the play area on each ticket, trying to uncover matching numbers and symbols or a "10X" symbol to win a prize. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.24.

Three top prizes of $100,000 are still up for grabs in 10X Cash, as well as three prizes of $10,000, 119 prizes of $1,000 and hundreds of prizes between $500 and $100.
