DES MOINES, Iowa - A Des Moines man has won a $10,000 lottery prize.

Ronald O'Neal claimed the third of 10 top prizes of $10,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's "Happy Holidays" instant-scratch game.

O'Neal claimed his prize Friday at the lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. He purchased his winning ticket at Quik Trip, 2300 E. 14th St. in Des Moines.

Happy Holidays is a $2 scratch game. If a player finds an 'ornament' symbol, they win the prize shown for that symbol. If they find the 'candy cane' symbol, they win double the prize shown for that symbol. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.82.

Seven top prizes of $10,000 are still up for grabs in Happy Holidays, as well as 64 prizes of $500 and hundreds of prizes of $100.

Players can enter nonwinning Happy Holidays scratch tickets online in the Gifts Galore Play It Again® promotion, which offers 310 Sony® electronics and cash prizes. When a player enters an eligible nonwinning scratch ticket in Gifts Galore, he or she will receive one entry in the drawing for the corresponding Sony® electronic or cash prize category.
