Hear Bonnie tell her story.
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Wyaconda, Miss. woman was visiting her step-father in Iowa when she decided to stop in Keokuk; she purchased a "Super Cashout" instant-scratch ticket and ended up winning a top prize of $30,000.
Bonnie Webster, 66, said she and her husband, Russell, stopped to pick up a few groceries at Hy-Vee, 3111 Main St. in Keokuk, when she decided to buy a few tickets to pass the time on the road.
"I got $20 worth of tickets; got thirty thousand and fifteen dollars," Webster said. "It worked out pretty good."
Webster scratched her tickets while in the car. She said she thought she was seeing her ticket right, but she took it back into Hy-Vee to have it validated.
"She says, 'Are you sure you won that much?'" Webster said. "I said, 'Well, yeah, I think so.'"
Webster told her husband and her twin sons about the win. She said they were very excited for her.
Webster joked she would share a little bit of money with her husband and keep the rest for herself. She claimed her prize Dec. 17 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
