Ask-For
Promotion

The key to this promotion is to highlight Iowa Lottery scratch tickets and increase sales via suggestive selling by the retailer. Offering the customer the information on the newest scratch ticket or a game that is selling well in your location are ways to sell more scratch tickets. Example: If Crossword or Bingo is a popular game, offer your customer the chance to be our next $30,000 winner.

• Buttons and table tents are provided to the stores participating in the promotion. The table tents state: “It's offered or it's free. If we don't ask if you want to buy a lottery ticket, we'll give you a free $1 instant ticket.” The button says: “If I don't ask, it's FREE”!!

• Each store that participates receives 50 free $1 scratch tickets. During the promotion dates if a retailer's clerk forgets to “ask” the customer if they would like to purchase a scratch ticket, the free ticket is to be given to the customer out of the free tickets supplied to the store. At the promotion's end, any unused promotional tickets may be given to store employees as a measure of performance.

• Remember to wear the buttons, place the table tents and to ask for the sale. Have fun with your customers with this suggestive selling promotion!
