Sioux City Man Wins $50,000 Lottery Prize

Brian Stephenson Claims Top Prize in 'Tree-mendous' Game

CLIVE, Iowa - A Sioux City man has won a $50,000 lottery prize.

Brian Stephenson won the third top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Tree-mendous" scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 3301 Gordon Drive in Sioux City, and claimed his prize Monday at the lottery's Storm Lake regional office.

Tree-mendous is a $5 scratch game that features nine top prizes of $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.74.

Players can enter nonwinning holiday scratch tickets into the lottery's Warehouse Dash® Play It Again® promotion from now through 9:59 a.m. on Jan. 4. The promotion will award $200,000 in cash prizes, including a $100,000 grand prize, and four trips to Chicago for a 90-second Warehouse Dash shopping spree. Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.7 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
