Southwest Iowa Man Surprised By $100,000 Lottery Win

Bob Huff Claims Top Prize In 'Living Lucky With Luke Combs' Game

Bob Huff

CLIVE, Iowa - A southwest Iowa man who won a $100,000 lottery prize said his big win brought on a case of jitters.

"I got the shakes," Franklin "Bob" Huff told officials on Wednesday as he claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Clive. "I couldn't sign my name or anything else."

Huff, 75, of Glenwood, won the second top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Living Lucky With Luke Combs" scratch game. He bought his lucky ticket at Lincoln Farm & Home BP, 515 Sharp St. in Glenwood. He picked out a Crossword ticket to purchase, then asked a store employee for a ticket in the $10 scratch game as well.

"I told her, 'Oh, give me that Luke Combs (ticket) – something to do," he said. "Yeah, it was something to do, all right!"

Huff scratched the ticket when he got home but didn't believe his luck.

"You're dumbfounded," he said. "You're thinking in the back of your head, 'This can't be real!'"

Huff, a retired state employee, said he plans to use part of his winnings on home improvements and save the rest.

Living Lucky With Luke Combs is a $10 scratch game that features six top prizes of $100,000 and overall odds of 1 in 2.86.
