Ida County Woman Wins $25,000 Lottery Prize

Julie Wonder Claims Top Prize in 'Hipster Holiday Bingo' Scratch Game

Julie Wonder

CLIVE, Iowa - An Ida County woman who won a $25,000 lottery prize initially thought her prize was much smaller.

Julie Wonder of Ida Grove claimed the second of six top prizes available in the Iowa Lottery's "Holiday Hipster Bingo" scratch game. Her boyfriend, John Boger, purchased the winning ticket at Ida Liquor, 500 W. Iowa Highway 175 in Ida Grove.

Wonder said she thought she'd won $2,500 until they returned to the store to check the ticket and realized it was much larger.

"We couldn't believe it," Wonder told lottery officials Wednesday as she claimed her prize at the lottery's regional office in Storm Lake. "We're glad we got here and it was still real."

Wonder, 60, said she has plans for her winnings.

"Some we're going to have in savings, hopefully for retirement," she said. "Some we'd like to give to charity, and then hopefully have a good Christmas with our grandkids."
