Altoona Woman Wins $50,000 Lottery Prize

CLIVE, Iowa - An Altoona woman has won a $50,000 prize in a new Iowa Lottery scratch game.

Jonna Leadford claimed the first of eight top prizes available in the lottery's "$500 Loaded!" scratch game. She purchased her winning ticket at Casey's, 3348 Eighth St. SW in Altoona, and claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Clive.

$500 Loaded! is a $5 scratch game that began sales on Jan. 3. It features a $50,000 top prize and more than 600 prizes of $500. For more information about this game, visit ialottery.com.

Prizes and Proceeds

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.7 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
