CLIVE, Iowa — A Wapello County woman has won the first $50,000 top prize in a new lottery game.
Maria Alvarado of Ottumwa claimed the big prize in the Iowa Lottery's "5 of Hearts" scratch game, which began sales last month. She purchased her winning ticket at Kum & Go, 5970 Morning Star Court in Pleasant Hill, and claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Clive.
