CLIVE, Iowa — A Winterset woman had almost given up on her “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratch ticket right before she uncovered a top prize.
“I started scratching the letters off and I'm like, 'This doesn't look promising.' There were no words at the top,” said Brittany Rudolf. “So then I just scratched the barcode and I scanned, and it said '$100,000 winner.'”
She bought her winning ticket at Kum & Go, 1453 County Highway G76 in New Virginia, and claimed her prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery's main office in Clive.
Rudolf, 35, said she will buy a new car and help pay for improvements to her father's house.
“My dreams came true, because I've been wanting to win the lottery so I can just get where I need to be,” she said.
