CLIVE, Iowa — An eastern Iowa man said he checked his ticket over and over after realizing it had won a prize of $25,000 a year for life.
Jeffrey Lensch of Center Point won big in the Lucky for Life drawing on Feb. 18, matching five of six numbers in the drawing to win at the game's second-top prize level. He bought his winning easy-pick ticket at The Corner Store, 4200 Lewis Access Road in Center Point.
The morning after the drawing, he checked his ticket by scanning it with the Iowa Lottery mobile app. When the prize amount appeared, he scanned it five more times before the win finally began to sink in.
Lensch claimed his prize Thursday at the lottery's main office in Clive. He chose to receive his prize in its lump-sum amount of $390,000, and said he plans to put it toward investing and traveling the country.
Lucky for Life was a daily draw game that ended sales on Feb. 22, completing a 10-year run in Iowa. For more information about the Iowa Lottery's draw games, visit www.ialottery.com.
