Davenport Man Wins $250,000 Lottery Prize

Michael Miller Claims Top Prize In $20 'MONOPOLY Doubler' Scratch Game

CLIVE, Iowa — A Davenport man said his $250,000 lottery win brought a huge sense of relief.

“I'm debt-free,” Michael Miller said on Thursday as he claimed his prize at the lottery's Cedar Rapids regional office. “I'm paying everything off, I'm buying a brand-new truck and we'll still have a hundred grand to mess with.”

Miler, 53, won the first top prize in the Iowa Lottery's new $20 “MONOPOLY Doubler” scratch game. He stopped at Sub Express & Gas, 4307 W. Locust St. in Davenport, to cash in a pair of $10-winning tickets from earlier in the day and used those winnings to buy his lucky $250,000-winning ticket.

“I just scratched the bottom code, the scan code, scanned it and it said $250,000,” Miller said. “I had to scan it two or three times. I was very, very excited.”

It was the second big lottery win for Miller, who also claimed a prize of $77,777 several years ago.

“Everybody calls me Money Mike,” he said with a laugh. “Yeah, I consider myself not lucky, but in the right place at the right time.”

Based on the classic board game, MONOPOLY Doubler is a $20 scratch game that features prizes from $20 to $250,000 and overall odds of 1 in 2.90.

From now until 9:59 a.m. on May 19, 2026, players can enter nonwinning MONOPOLY tickets for a chance to win a share of $200,000 in cash prizes. For more information about this promotion, visit www.ialottery.com.
