Arkansas Trucker Wins $25,000 Iowa Lottery Prize

Bryan Hensley Claims Top Prize in 'Cash Spectacular' InstaPlay Game

CLIVE, Iowa — An Arkansas trucker bought an Iowa Lottery ticket on his way through the state and won a $25,000 prize.

Bryan Hensley, 32, of Bryant, Ark., won a top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Cash Spectacular" InstaPlay game. He purchased his winning ticket at Pilot Travel Center, 3231 Adventureland Drive in Altoona.

"I was honestly expecting it to be not a winner, or $5," Hensley said on Tuesday as he claimed his prize at the lottery's Cedar Rapids regional office. "I was just trying to get back to the truck to go to sleep. I just scanned it and I was in disbelief. I saw a comma and a bunch of zeros and I was like, 'Is this real?' I almost thought I was on 'Candid Camera.'"

Hensley said that after his big win, sleep was hard to come by. He called his close family and friends, then his boss, so that he could be re-routed through Cedar Rapids in order to claim his prize.

Hensley said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay debt and save the rest for now.

"I'm just going to hold on to it and take my time making a decision," he said.

The InstaPlay product combines features from instant-scratch and lotto games. InstaPlay tickets are called "scratchless" because they have no security coating that needs to be removed to determine the prize won. And rather than having supplies of tickets printed in advance like those in traditional scratch and pull-tab games, InstaPlay tickets are printed on demand from the lottery terminal.

InstaPlay games range in price from $1 to $30. For more information about these games, visit www.ialottery.com.
