CLIVE, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids woman said she's used to winning a few dollars on her favorite scratch game, but her latest ticket delivered a much bigger surprise: a $30,000 win.
Kim Wink, 64, won big in the Iowa Lottery's “One-Word Crossword” scratch game. Her husband Rich purchased the ticket for her at Casey's, 4560 16th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids and brought it home for her to scratch.
“My stomach kind of got sick and I handed it to him and said, 'Check this, please!'” Wink recalled with a laugh. “He turned around and looked at me and goes, 'Oh, my goodness!'”
Wink claimed her prize Thursday at the lottery's Cedar Rapids regional office. She said she and her husband plan to use the winnings to pay bills.
